Semester 1 (2026/27)Cherubini’s Requiem

Chorus is a large, un-auditioned choir with members of all ages, from first year undergraduates to members of 50 years standing, with sometimes as many as 200 singers. Requiring no previous experience of singing in a choir or reading music, Chorus is a an open space for everyone and anyone who wishes to sing with other people. Conducted by Neil Metcalfe, who brings enthusiasm, enjoyment and laughter to every rehearsal, Chorus works towards a concert at the end of each semester, every year collaborating with one of the orchestras for a joint concert.

Past venues have included St Mary’s Cathedral, McEwan Hall and Greyfriars Kirk. Previous works have included Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms, Bruckner’s Te Deum, Brahms’s Ein Deutsches Requiem and a recent collaboration with Symphony Orchestra for a wonderful performance of Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 in McEwan Hall.

Though there is no requirement to read music, it can certainly help; but regardless of your skill level, there is a place here for you.

If you wish to join Chorus, or would like to find out more information, please contact the Chorus Manager at chorus@eums.org.uk.
