Big sing poster

On Sunday 1st November, we will be holding our first charity Big Sing event in three years! Some of you may be asking yourself, ‘what on earth is a Big Sing?!’ – basically, it is a charity fundraising event where you pay a small fee to take part, turn up for a jam-packed day of singing, fun and cake, before putting on a public concert in the evening to show everyone what we’ve learnt over the course of the day and hopefully wowing everyone with our vocal prowess. This year we will be singing Vivaldi’s ‘Gloria’, alongside Lauridsen’s ‘O Magnum Mysterium’ and Hope’s ‘Ye Banks and Braes’, and all proceeds will go to Health in Mind, a local mental health charity.

Rehearsals will take place 11am-6pm (Alison House, room tbc), and the concert will be at 7pm at Augustine United Church (on George IV Bridge). It will cost £10 to take part if you wish to hire a copy of the Vivaldi, or £8 if you have your own copy. Audience tickets will cost £5. Online sign ups will go live in the next few days, so if you’re interested, please email Christie at community@eums.org.uk, who will send you the sign-up link ASAP! You can also pay in person at chorus rehearsals on the 20th and 27th. We will be auditioning for Vivaldi soloists (soprano and alto) ahead of the event, so if you’re interested, please let us know.

The best bit? You don’t even have to be an EUMS member to take part! So go forth, spread the word far and wide, and let’s prove that singing is fantastic for your mental health!
